I am large, I contain contradictions.

You’ve heard about the landmark Pew survey, which claims Jews are leaving traditional faith behind in increasing numbers. Trouble is: That’s incorrect. J.J. Goldberg explains why.
I was raised as the daughter of an intermarried couple. I wasn’t raised Jewish. I was never meant to engage in any capacity with my own Jewish identity. When I found meaning in the roots of my Jewish ancestors, it was a decision I made on my own and out of an autonomous yearning and curiosity. I am “half” Jewish (whatever that means), I am secular, and I fast on Yom Kippur. Thank you J.J. Goldberg, for your refreshing and thoughtful response on an otherwise insensitive and out of touch study.
